The Curlew, Feathering Nest

The refurb

Are we working hard on the opening of The Curlew? Is the bear catholic?

With only a few weeks to go until The Curlew opens its doors for the very first time, the days are running into nights and back into days again. While we seem to have been spending more time than is absolutely sane on choosing knives, forks, spoons, plates and platters et al, we’re not the only ones with our noses to the grindstone. John Macaulay at Macaulay Sinclair has been working feverishly on the design build which is best described, if it can be categorised, as British quirk. We’ve got Paul Reaney at Nutmeg Media creatively penning our website and the wonderfully talented Studio Output designing our branding – in short it’s all hands to whichever pump they can grab.

We’re opening on 3rd July and if you’re in the Bodiam area around that time, it would be great to see you. We’ll add to this blog every couple of days – bookmark us and we’ll keep you up to date.

Thank you to you all for a fantastic night on your dry launch.. we had a wonderful meal in the most relaxing setting. Loved every inch of effort you all put into the evening and can only imagine how much work has gone into creating something so spectactular!

Loved the French feel outside dining area too - will be great for summer lunches and cant believe how quickly it took us from Goudhurst.

Thought the diversity of menu was perfect and suited all tastes - along with suiting all pockets. The wine selection was spot on and everybody just has to try the champagne and beer (?) drink - THE new Pimms. Delicious. So was the locally made Ginger Beer (my childhood favourite).

Can’t wait to organise many events, parties and birthdays here - its going to be a firm favourite.

    CONGRATULATIONS to you all!!
    Much love The Gibsons

What a wonderful suprise to find food of such a high standard in relaxed, comfortable surroundings.

It is a pleasure to find true professionals, who know the restaurant business, without the stuffy, superior attitude that often goes with such places.

The open kitchen is a fabulous idea and it is obvious that an enormous effort and thought has been put in to every aspect of the design, menu and atmosphere.

The Curlew exudes a sense of relaxed style.

There is no doubt that it will be the talk of Kent.

    Congratulations

A wonderful, relaxing surrounding to eat, celebrate and catch up with friends. I used to eat at the Curlew a few years ago and it was my favourite place to eat. I think that the most important part of eating out isn’t just the food; it’s the ambience and the vibe, people drinking, eating and all having a great time. The Curlew certainly has the potential and the foundation to build on.

    Congratulations
