Christmas? Give yourself a treat

Friday, October 1st, 2010

If Christmas is all about giving, on Christmas Day, why not give yourself a treat? Christmas Lunch at The Curlew is the perfect, stress-free way to enjoy the big day.

After canapes and a glass of something fizzy, you could start with mushroom consume accompanied by winter truffle and cep brioche, lightly poached native lobster or potted game with pigeon, pheasant and partridge.

You could try one of our hearty main courses: a roast breast of goose with heavenly goose fat potatoes, spiced rib of beef or line caught fillet of sea bass with a wonderful aged-port butter.

For dessert, as well as an earthy stilton rarebit, you could plump for Christmas pudding and flaming ice cream, scrumptious sherry trifle or warm orange marmalade cake and Earl Grey ice cream. We also have bespoke menus for vegetarians and for children. Unwrap The Curlew’s Christmas Lunch menu a little early by taking a look below…

December menu gets early airing

Friday, October 1st, 2010

We know it’s a little early, but here’s a sneak peek of our December menu!

As you might expect, there’s traditional Turkey and Stuffing on offer. What you might not expect is that it is served in a pie with fresh sage & onion stuffing and lovely, sticky cranberry chutney. Starters also include some wonderful pheasant sausages which we’re serving with caramalised apple and a cider brandy sauce.

Our December main courses include a whole roast partridge with honeyed quince (remember that word for Christmas Scrabble), buttered cabbage and a bread sauce pudding. We’re also serving a Loch Duart salmon with a Choucroute of cuttlefish, cockles and bacon.

Amongst our desserts you’ll find a sweet Yorkshire pudding, served with prune and Armagnac ice cream… and what December Menu would be complete without trifle? Ours is served with PX Sherry, vanilla custard, mascarpone cream, and toasted almonds. If you get a moment, take a look at the December menu, it’s full of great stuff(ing).
